Research Fields:
My present scientific interests include:
- Atomistic simulations of various bulk and nano systems at empirical potential, tight-binding and density-functional theory levels;
- Interaction of energetic particles with nanosystems;
- Defects in carbon nanotubes; effects of the irradiation on the mechanical and electronic properties of carbon nanotubes;
- Magnetism in carbon systems doped with non-magnetic impurities such as nitrogen and hydrogen;
- Plastic deformation in metal nano-single crystals and nano-structured metals;
- Theory of scanning tunneling microscope (STM); simulation of STM images of surfaces with various atomic-scale defects.
My previous scientific interests:
- Classical and quantum computing in solid-state systems;
- Electronic transport in nanosystems (quantum cascade lasers, resonant-tunneling structures);
- Mechanisms of superconductivity in high-temperature superconductors, the effects of defects and nonmagnetic impurities on superconductivity in high-temperature superconductors;
- Physics of atomic and semiconductor clusters;
