Excursion & Dinner
We will invite you for the conference excursion and dinner to the beautiful park Hvitträsk, which is located about 30 km outside of Helsinki. The park and the main building — the cradle of National romanticism in Finland — are designed by three famous Finnish architects, Herman Gesellius, Armas Lindgren, and Eliel Saarinen. All three lived and worked in Hvitträsk for the first decade of the 20th century. The fruitful collaboration and tight friendship opened doors to many famous contemporary artists from all over Finland and other countries. Frequent visitors, such as Jean Sibelius, Axel Gallen-Kallela, and Maksim Gorki lived in this hospitable house for weeks.
Artistic and bohemian atmosphere is felt in every corner of this charming place. Tender fragrance of blooming flowers fills the extensive green areas around the house. A number of park alcoves invite to rest in their shadow on a sunny day.
We will offer an organized tour around the house, after that there will be time to stroll down to the beautiful lake Vitträsk, as well as around a small peninsula, where the museum area is located. A small charming cafeteria with a few outdoor tables can also be used to have a short coffee or a drink before the dinner begins.
We will arrive to Hvitträsk at 5pm, and the dinner will start at 7pm. After the dinner, the conference bus will take all the participants back to Helsinki.
The airport can be reached by taxi directly from Hvitträsk. The ride will take approximately 40 min or less. The minivan can also be ordered in advance (can be shared, 8 – 14 passengers depending on the minivan), no additional costs apply for a large size taxi.
